Michelle Land (Dance/Creative Movement)

Michelle studied ballet for 12 years with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. She is a graduate of the University of Manitoba with an Advanced  Bachelor of Arts (Honours in English and History) in 2009; Bachelor of Education from the University of Winnipeg (2013). Michelle has been teaching creative movement in the Squirts program since 2006 and also teaches dance as a component of the land training activities for our competitive athletes.  Michelle has this to say about growing up as part of a family of synchronized swimmers:  “I grew up watching VHS tapes of the synchronized swimming teams my aunts coached, and got to see how the beautiful suits and headpieces slowly came to life. They always called it ballet in the water, and encouraged me to follow my passion. After coaching athletes at Winnipeg Synchro for some time, many squirts have made their way to competitive teams and are now fellow Coaches. It still astonishes me the level of dedication, athleticism, confidence, and team work, all of the athletes develop throughout their time with Winnipeg Synchro. It all starts with that spark of excitement, curiosity, passion, and creativity. I am constantly inspired by our athletes, and am very thankful to be a part of the team.”
